This Privacy Policy explains how White Light Capital LLC, doing business as Rent Long Island (“Rent Long Island,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), collects, uses, and protects information when you visit our website, submit a housing request, or take part in our referral program.
Information we collect
- Contact details you provide: your name, email address, phone number, and organization.
- Housing request details: move-in dates, length of stay, number of occupants, preferred area, and any notes you include.
- Referral details: if you refer someone, your name, email address, and phone number; the name, email address, and phone number of the person you refer; any notes you include; and a record that you accepted the referral program terms, including the terms version and the date and time you accepted.
- Form records: when you submit a form, we keep a copy of what you sent, when you sent it, and the IP address it came from, to respond to you and to help prevent spam and fraud.
- Consent records: if you opt in to text messages, we record that you consented, when, and the consent language shown to you.
- Website usage data: basic technical information such as IP address and pages viewed, collected through standard web logs and cookies.
How we use your information
- To respond to your housing request and share available furnished-housing options.
- To run our referral program: to contact the person you referred about furnished housing, to confirm whether a referral qualifies for a reward, and to send rewards.
- To communicate with you about your inquiry by email, phone, or (only if you opt in) text message.
- To operate, maintain, and improve our website and services.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
Text messaging (SMS) and your mobile information
If you check the SMS consent box on our request form, we may send you text messages related to your housing request, such as available options, availability updates, scheduling, and service notifications. Message frequency varies and message and data rates may apply. You can reply STOP at any time to opt out, or HELP for assistance.
We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing to subcontractors in support services, such as customer service, is permitted.
All other use case categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
Referral program
When you refer someone, you confirm that they agreed to be contacted by us. We use their information only to contact them about furnished housing, and we use your information only to follow up on the referral and to deliver any reward you earn. We may share the name and email address of a reward recipient with the provider that issues and delivers the gift card, only as needed to send it. If you were referred to us and do not want to hear from us, reply to any message from us or email privacy@rentlongisland.com, and we will stop contacting you and delete your referral information unless we need to keep it for legal reasons.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with: service providers who help us operate our business (for example, hosting, email, and messaging providers), and only as needed to perform those services; legal and safety recipients when required by law or to protect our rights and users; and, in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale of company assets, a successor entity as part of that transaction. As stated above, mobile opt-in data and consent are never shared with third parties for marketing or promotional purposes.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as needed to respond to your request and for our legitimate business and legal purposes, then delete or de-identify it.

- Opt out of text messages any time by replying STOP.
- Unsubscribe from emails using the link in any message.
- Request access to, correction of, or deletion of your information by contacting us at privacy@rentlongisland.com.
Cookies and tracking
Our website may use cookies and similar technologies for basic functionality, performance, and analytics. We may use analytics tools such as Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site; these tools may set their own cookies. You can opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on. You can also control cookies through your browser settings.
We do not currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals.
